Job description

Location: United States (National Scope)

Reports to: Global Head of Charging-as-a-Service

About ABB E-mobility

ABB E-mobility is a global leader in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure and services, delivering high-performance charging solutions to customers across North America, Europe and beyond.

About Charging-as-a-Service

Through our Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS) business, we are moving up the stack beyond hardware to enable large enterprises to own and operate branded EV fast charging networks without the hassle.

CaaS is not a traditional CPO model.

We provide retailers, convenience store chains, QSR brands and large landowners with a fully integrated, white-label platform that combines:

  • ABB’s industry-leading DC charging hardware
  • Asset management with contractual uptime guarantees
  • End-to-end business operations
  • Frontend driver services

Our partners retain control of their brand, pricing and customer relationship while we handle the technical and operational complexity.

Our ambition in the United States is to establish CaaS as the preferred charging platform partner for enterprise portfolios.

Role summary

The General Manager, USA owns the CaaS business in the United States. You own the strategy, the number, the team and the outcome our partners experience.

This is a founding leadership role. You will build the US business from a small commercial base into a national platform, build the local team and personally lead the largest enterprise partnerships in the market. You carry P&L accountability for US order intake and revenue.

You will report to the Global Head of Charging-as-a-Service and sit on the CaaS leadership team.

Key responsibilities
  • Own the US CaaS strategy and its execution, including commercial targets, KPI setting and resource allocation
  • Own the pipeline of multi-site portfolio opportunities across national and regional retailers, convenience store chains, QSR operators, hotel chains and large landowners
  • Personally lead engagement with the top 20 enterprise accounts in the market, at C-suite level
  • Hire and lead the founding US team across sales and account management
  • Represent ABB E-mobility at industry events and in the media
  • Build a partnership ecosystem across site design, engineering, civil works, electrical installation and utility coordination, so projects get delivered on time
  • Work with that ecosystem to generate new collaborations and sales opportunities
  • Bring US market requirements into the CaaS product and technology roadmap
  • Identify and drive the big bets in the US market

We are looking for a business builder.

You likely bring:
  • 10+ years leading teams and complex, long-cycle projects
  • A background in consulting and/or business development
  • Deep expertise deploying technical products or solutions to enterprise customers
  • Proven ability to build and scale high-performing teams from scratch
  • Owner mentality. Hands-on and self-starting, willing to roll up the sleeves to get a result
  • Comfort operating with high autonomy inside a global corporation, and the judgment to know when to draw on the ABB organization and when to move independently
  • Familiarity with EV infrastructure and charging networks is a plus
How we operate

High velocity. We are a new business line inside ABB E-mobility with the mandate to decide closer to the customer and move faster than a corporate function can.

Full-stack ownership. We sell hardware, software, operations and driver experience as one product. Everyone here understands the whole stack.

Impact over hierarchy. Small team, wide scope. No task is above or beneath anyone.

Backed by ABB. Global hardware, an industrial balance sheet and the credibility that opens enterprise doors.

Location

United States, national scope. Remote-first, with regular travel to partner and customer sites, ABB E-mobility locations in the US, and our European office.

ABB E-mobility is a world leader in EV charging technology and a partner of choice for the world’s biggest electric vehicle OEMs and nationwide EV charging network operators. With a strong R&D pipeline, our robust product portfolio of innovative holistic solutions – from grid to charge point and domestic installations to large fleet depots – means we are actively enabling the future of e-mobility, not just predicting it.
