Job summary

Dogtopia of West Frisco is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our dog daycare, boarding and grooming operation. You will partner with ownership to drive growth, improve operations, and deliver an exceptional customer experience while building and coaching a team.

The role is hands-on and operational, overseeing 15–25 staff, managing day-to-day issues, controlling P&L, and expanding membership and community impact through The Dogtopia Foundation contributions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in supervisory/manager roles within retail, restaurant, hospitality, membership/club, child care or pet care.
• Shows ability to own the outcome and lead a multi-functional team.
• Experience in Microsoft Office applications and store systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Dogtopia operations (Daycare, Boarding, Grooming) and store systems; implement new initiatives.
• Hire, train and coach staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Lead performance management and accountability for commitments; remove obstacles for execution.
• Own the store's profit and loss and drive financial performance.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and manage client relationships.
• Schedule and timekeeping; oversee facilities and equipment.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced General Manager to lead all aspects of our dog daycare, boarding and grooming business. This role is ideal for a leader who loves dogs and also enjoys building teams, improving operations, driving financial performance, and creating an exceptional customer experience. The General Manager serves as the operational leader of the business and works closely with ownership to achieve strategic growth objectives. Compensation includes a competitive base salary plus performance incentives tied directly to business results.

The Details:

Job Type: Full Time

Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 annually, with opportunity for quarterly bonus

Shift: 8 hours

Work Days: Monday to Friday, Weekends as needed

Work Location: In Person

General Manager

The role of the General Manager is simple but not easy. You are principally responsible for the success of Dogtopia of West Frisco's team and therefore the success of the location. That’s it. To achieve this, you’ll need to find an operating rhythm and coach your team on developing theirs. This will be a very hands‑on role.

Your constant focus will be on leading your team to excellence. You will be expected to:

• Own the outcome. View everything that happens in your store as your responsibility.
• Lead a team of 15-25 employees with an assistant and additional Senior team members as the store grows.
• Build a positive, high-performance culture in which your team is empowered to make decisions (and make mistakes!).
• Grow the store’s membership base, profit, and Dogtopia Foundation contributions.
• Obsessively look for more efficient and effective ways to operate. And enjoy finding them!

General Manager responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

• Dog Operations (Daycare, Boarding, and Spa/Grooming)-Oversee the store systems and processes, implementing new initiatives as they arise
• Hiring & Training- Post jobs, conduct interviews and oversee training of new employees
• Performance management-Lead, manage, and hold the team accountable for achieving agreed-upon commitments; Remove obstacles so that people can effectively execute their responsibilities
• Accountability for the profit and loss of the store
• Customer Service & Relationship Management-Work with pet parents to resolve any issues or disputes in a customer friendly manner
• Facilities Management/Cleaning-Manage the physical facility including equipment and IT
• Scheduling and Timekeeping

Your background and work experience:

• Demonstrates success leading a multi-functional team.
• Shows that you understand what it means to own the outcome.
• Has required you to learn constantly and rise to new challenges.
• Is at least 3 years in retail, restaurant, hospitality, membership/club (gym, fitness, golf etc.), child care or pet care with at least 3 years in supervisory/assistant manager/manager roles that have given you an opportunity to lead, develop, train, and coach people. Whatever it is, you can explain how it’s relevant and how it has prepared you to be a successful Dogtopia General Manager.
• Demonstrates competence in Microsoft Computer applications

Preferred Experience - a plus, but not required:

• Professional experience working with dogs
• Veterinary experience a plus, but not required
• Sales and/or marketing experience
