Remote (United States) or in person in Los Angeles Full-Time $160,000–$200,000 base Senior leadership Hands-on leadership

Agency Collective builds focused marketing agencies for specific markets. Each brand needs more than a name and a funnel. It needs an operator who understands its customers, owns its economics and can turn an opportunity into a business that works.

We are looking for a General Manager to lead an assigned agency brand. You will connect commercial priorities with delivery capability, develop the team, strengthen the niche playbook and keep growth grounded in client value and cash discipline.

You will work closely with the founder while building an operation that can make good decisions independently. If you have run a service business or agency practice and can show what improved because you were responsible for it, we want to understand how you think.

MISSION & SCOPE

Build and run a focused agency brand with strong client outcomes, disciplined economics and a team that can execute without constant founder intervention.

Scope: One assigned niche agency brand within Agency Collective, with broader scope only when justified

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

Build the system.
Raise the standard.
  • The assigned brand's operating plan, revenue quality, retention, capacity and contribution economics.
  • A realistic commercial forecast and clear priorities across sales, client success and specialist delivery.
  • Qualification discipline and the fit between promises, scope, pricing and delivery capability.
  • Development of the brand's niche playbook, positioning and evidence-backed sales materials.
  • Senior escalation resolution and leadership development within the assigned business.
  • Recommendations to expand, refine or stop initiatives based on cash, client value and operational evidence.
  • Coach the leaders and specialists supporting the brand, making responsibilities and performance expectations explicit.
  • Use a clear testing budget and agreed decision criteria for new offers or initiatives, recommending scale, revision or closure from evidence.

SCOPE BOUNDARIES

  • Founder retains portfolio strategy, pricing policy, capital allocation, new brand launches and major commitments unless delegated.
  • Operations owns shared operating standards; the GM ensures the assigned brand meets them.
  • Buyers own campaigns and CSMs own routine communication. The GM intervenes on strategic direction and escalations.
  • Creative, lifecycle and systems leaders own their specialist standards and capabilities.

FIRST 90 DAYS

Learn. Build.
Prove the change.
Days 1–30
  • Build a reliable view of the assigned brand's clients, economics, pipeline, capacity and risks.
  • Agree the operating plan and decision boundaries with the founder.
  • Identify the most important retention, delivery and positioning gaps.
Days 31–60
  • Run the weekly business cadence with accountable actions and a current forecast.
  • Strengthen qualification and sales-to-delivery handoffs.
  • Implement the highest-value changes to the niche offer or delivery model within agreed authority.
Days 61–90
  • Show a brand operation with clear ownership, fewer avoidable escalations and stronger commercial visibility.
  • Demonstrate progress on the agreed client and financial priorities.
  • Present a justified next-quarter plan including what to scale and what to stop.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Skill, judgment,
follow-through.

Experience running an agency, practice or service-business unit with genuine financial accountability.

DTC economics

Strong understanding of DTC unit economics and the connection between acquisition, creative, retention and conversion.

Evidence of improving retention and profitability without uncontrolled headcount growth.

Cross-functional leadership

Ability to lead functional experts, qualify commercial opportunities and handle difficult client decisions.

Experience defining a focused offer or market position and translating it into repeatable delivery.

Decision judgment

Clear judgment on when to act within delegated authority, when to elevate and when to stop an initiative that is not earning its place.

COMPENSATION
