Far East Motors in Silver Spring, MD, is hiring a General Manager for a full-time, on-site leadership role in our established automotive repair shop. The GM will oversee day-to-day operations and drive efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Compensation starts at $100,000 with performance-based bonuses; benefits include health, PTO, holidays, 401k, and ongoing training. You will lead a team including a Service Manager, Foreman, and Office Manager, reporting to ownership.

Responsibilities

• Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance, productivity, quality, attendance, and procedures.
• Track KPIs and ensure departments meet goals and targets.
• Identify bottlenecks, solve problems, and improve processes with department leaders.
• Manage scheduling, PTO, staffing, coverage, and other day-to-day needs.
• Support the Service Manager and Foreman in resolving issues.
• Help recruit, onboard, train, develop, and retain great employees.

Far East Motors is a busy, family-owned automotive repair shop that has proudly served the Silver Spring community for more than 30 years. We have a strong customer base, steady workflow, and an experienced team and we're looking for a General Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of the business.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of the entire shop and make sure everything is moving in the right direction.
• Coordinate closely with the Service Manager, Foreman, and Office Manager to keep the service, technical, and administrative sides of the business working together.
• Monitor shop workflow, vehicle flow, scheduling, staffing, and capacity to keep the operation running efficiently.
• Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance, productivity, quality, attendance, and following established procedures.
• Track key performance metrics and make sure individuals and departments are hitting their goals and targets.
• Work with department leaders to identify bottlenecks, solve problems, and improve processes.
• Make sure scheduling, PTO, staffing, coverage, and other day-to-day management needs are handled properly.
• Support the Service Manager and Foreman in resolving employee, customer, workflow, and operational issues.
• Help recruit, onboard, train, develop, and retain great employees.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, team-focused workplace culture while addressing conflict and performance issues when necessary.
• Help improve shop productivity, efficiency, profitability, and overall customer experience.
• Communicate regularly with ownership regarding performance, staffing, opportunities, challenges, and the overall health of the business.

Automotive Experience

Automotive repair experience is strongly preferred. You don't have to be the best technician in the building, but you should understand how a busy repair shop operates and what it takes to keep technicians, service advisors, and customers moving in the same direction.
