Job summary

Addison Group in New York, NY is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead day-to-day operations for a large-scale Class A property onsite. You will drive financial performance, oversee operations, and manage a senior team while partnering with executives.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager in operation of a large-scale Class A property.
  • Oversee building operations, engineering and property management functions.
  • Lead and hold accountable cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as senior leadership in GM’s absence.
  • Manage property financial performance: budgets, P&L, monthly reporting.
  • Participate in annual budget development and forecasting.
  • Communicate property performance, variances and opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, vendors and stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service and tenant experience.
  • Build relationships with executives, investors, tenants and vendors.
  • Represent leadership in meetings requiring executive presence.
  • Foster accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Anticipate challenges and develop innovative solutions.
  • Navigate complex organizational dynamics with stakeholders.
  • Support strategic initiatives across property or portfolio.
  • Stay current on CRE trends to identify opportunities.

Pay: $120K + bonus

Work Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM-5:00 PM | Fully onsite (5 days/week)

This is an opportunity to join a high-visibility property management team supporting a landmark commercial real estate environment. The organization is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager who can provide strong operational and financial leadership while partnering closely with senior executives and property leadership.

Job Description:

The Assistant General Manager will play a critical role in overseeing day-to-day property operations and supporting the General Manager in the management of a large-scale, Class A commercial property. This position will provide leadership across building operations, engineering, property management, financial performance, and cross-functional team management.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned commercial real estate professional with significant experience managing complex, high-profile properties. This individual should bring strong financial acumen, executive presence, operational expertise, and the ability to lead large teams while maintaining a high level of accountability and service.

The Assistant General Manager will also serve as a key property leader and primary point of contact in the General Manager's absence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the General Manager in the overall management and operation of a large-scale Class A commercial property.
  • Oversee and coordinate building operations, engineering, property management, and other key property functions.
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable large, cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as a senior property leadership resource and assume primary leadership responsibilities in the General Manager's absence.
  • Manage property financial performance, including budgets, P&L statements, monthly financial reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Participate in annual budget development, financial planning, forecasting, and ongoing financial performance discussions.
  • Analyze financial results and clearly communicate property performance, variances, trends, and opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, property management, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient and high-quality building operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service delivery, tenant experience, and overall property performance.
  • Build strong relationships with senior executives, investors, tenants, vendors, and other high-level stakeholders.
  • Represent property leadership in meetings and discussions requiring strong executive presence and sound business judgment.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and exceptional service.
  • Anticipate operational challenges and proactively develop innovative, solutions-oriented approaches.
  • Navigate complex organizational dynamics and effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Support strategic initiatives and special projects across the property or broader portfolio as needed.
  • Stay current on commercial real estate, property management, building operations, and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Significant experience in commercial real estate and property management required.
  • Experience managing large-scale Class A commercial office properties strongly preferred.
  • Experience overseeing building operations, engineering, and property management functions.
  • Proven experience managing property financials, including budgets, P&L statements, monthly financial reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Experience participating in budget development and financial planning discussions, with the ability to explain and analyze financial performance.
  • Experience leading and holding accountable large, cross-functional teams.
  • Previous experience in a senior property leadership role with the ability to act as the primary point of contact in a General Manager's absence.
  • Experience managing large-scale properties, ideally 1 million+ square feet.
  • Experience within a complex, multi-building campus or portfolio environment highly preferred.
  • Class A, luxury commercial office experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong financial analysis and budgeting skills, including P&L management, variance reporting, forecasting, and monthly financial reporting.
  • Executive presence and confidence when interacting with senior executives, investors, and other high-level decision-makers.
  • Strategic and forward-thinking mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Approachable and personable leadership style while maintaining clear accountability and performance expectations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to navigate different personalities and build credibility across teams.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
  • Innovative, solutions-oriented, and comfortable working with highly strategic and visionary leaders.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
