Job summary

Goldfish Swim School is seeking a General Manager to oversee daily operations, staff management, and customer service across our Louisville facility.

You will train the aquatics team, manage scheduling, and ensure adherence to SOPs while driving sales, parties, and retail operations. The role requires leadership experience in youth settings and a background in business/management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field desired.
• Experience as youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, aquatics supervisor or manager preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily operations to ensure school runs per GSS SOPs.
• Manage staff to ensure high productivity, performance and satisfaction.
• Train aquatics department to provide quality swim instruction and supervise scheduling and customer service.
• Provide sales and marketing training to qualified staff.
• Direct retail and vending departments to optimize product mix and pricing.
• Oversee private party staff and maintain GSS SOPs.
• Develop skills in the Links software for bookings, scheduling, reporting and admin tasks.
• Maintain pool operations knowledge to ensure safe, sanitary environment.
• Lead employee engagement activities to improve morale.
• Oversee Emergency Action Plan and safety procedures; train staff.
• Maintain current certifications and professional development in aquatics/management.
• Schedule staff and manage payroll.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned by Employer.

Job Title: General Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary:

Oversees the quality and success of Goldfish Swim School daily operations including staffing, pool operations, customer service, retail and vending department, private party operations and workplace employee activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Directs and controls the daily operations to ensure the school is running per GSS standard operating procedures.
2. Manages the staff of GSS to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction.
3. Trains and oversees aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction to the students of GSS. Interacts with the Deck Supervisors and Lead Teachers on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service and employee performance and training.
4. Provides sales and marketing training to all qualified sales staff.
5. Provides direction in the retail and vending departments to ensure a proper mix of products and pricing is achieved.
6. Trains and oversees private party staff to ensure that the GSS standard operating procedures are being maintained.
7. Gains knowledge and experience in the Links software to achieve a high level of competence in bookings, class scheduling, reporting and administrative functions.
8. Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in the GSS pool operations necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary swim environment.
9. Initiates and oversees workplace employee activities (“Fun” Department) with the goal of achieving improved employee satisfaction.
10. Directs and oversees the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and all safety procedures that pertain to the GSS facility. Trains all current staff on the GSS EAP.
11. Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and management field.
12. Schedules staff and manages payroll.
13. Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications or equivalent is desired. Experience as youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor or aquatics instructor/supervisor is preferred. Three to five years management experience is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
