Southeast Building Supply Interests Inc. is seeking a General Manager to oversee operations across one or more stores in a single market in Tennessee. You will drive inventory control, sales, and profitability under the direction of the Division President, while ensuring policy compliance and strong vendor relations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university with four years of related work experience in the lumber or building materials industry.
  • Experience in building materials procurement, inventory management, and supervision of people.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall management of all aspects of the location, including production, sales, customer service, inventory management, delivery, safety and administrative activities.
  • Plan and direct functions to meet operational and financial goals for the location.
  • Collaborate with local and senior management to develop operating budgets and capital expenditure recommendations for location(s).
  • Communicate and enforce operating policies and procedures, as well as compliance requirements in daily operations.
  • Motivate employees, maintain a productive workforce, and train other managers.
  • Support and reinforce company safety initiatives to ensure OSHA and DOT compliance.
  • Manage direct reports who oversee departments and evaluate performance.
  • Plan, assign, direct work, and address internal and external complaints.
  • Partner with HR to evaluate performance, reward, recognize, and discipline employees.

Requirements

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains staff for their location(s).
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the location(s).
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Assisting in maintaining the general health and welfare of all employees, customers, and those in public contact with the Company’s operational services within the established guidelines of safety processes, policies, and regulations.
