Salary Range: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
Position Overview
Manage the operations of the hotel to maximize profitability and ensure superior guest service and product quality. Provide the leadership expertise that ensures the effective and efficient operation of the property, including but not limited to quality and legal defensibility of services provided and the achievement of stated operational goals and profitability objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead, through subordinate staff, the effective management of the housekeeping, laundry, and front desk to maximize financial performance while upholding quality standards and guest satisfaction.
- Direct the maximization of room revenue by anticipating market shifts, developing and monitoring annual business and marketing plans, and participating in appropriate marketing efforts.
- Coordinate improvement projects to maintain quality standards, property image, and protect assets from neglect, damage, or deterioration.
- Inspect rooms regularly and maintain cleanliness/setup to meet established standards.
- Maintain open communication with owners to support standards.
- Evaluate the condition of units after departures to ensure acceptable condition; bill renters for normal wear and tear where necessary in a timely fashion.
- Actively participate in property tours and greet guests, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
- Interact with unit owners and respond to their questions and concerns on a timely basis.
- Interview, hire, and direct support staff; schedule according to business levels and monitor budgeted expenses.
- Develop and implement an on‑the‑job training plan to ensure the highest level of customer service.
- Supervise staff and provide ongoing training, support, coaching, and mentoring as necessary.
- Attend all department meetings and schedule hotel meetings, as necessary.
- Maintain accurate par levels and inventory of supplies and equipment within the departments.
- Monitor PMS system and other interfaces to ensure they are functioning properly and in good working order; maintain contact with service providers and emergency telephone numbers.
- Monitor daily reservations for rate integrity and accuracy.
- Work with maintenance team or contractors, when necessary, to keep buildings and systems in good repair.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a team environment and act as a team leader.
- Basic computer skills, knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills, and budgetary analysis.
- Extensive sales skills.
- Basic understanding of maintenance mechanical systems.
- Ability to assess and evaluate employees’ performance fairly and consistently.
- Ability to supervise, train, and motivate team members.
- Ensure that guest satisfaction is consistently obtained and maintained.
- Ability to study, analyze, and interpret complex activities and information to improve practices or develop new approaches.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Four to six years of hotel management experience.
- Knowledge of PMS system helpful.
