We're hiring a General Maintenance Worker to join our maintenance team at the Chances Prince Rupert Casino. Reporting to the Security and Facility manager, the General Maintenance Worker inspects and maintains the general upkeep of the casino facility. You will address immediate operational and/or safety concerns while reporting major repairs to management. The role requires a jack of all trades with skills to complete minor repairs across various trades including heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Your responsibilities include inspecting and maintaining the property, including the grounds, maintaining a schedule for tasks, coordinating maintenance work orders, and notifying management of major repairs or system additions. We seek someone with a working knowledge of these systems, approximately 3 years of experience working with low and/or medium voltage equipment, and 3-5 years of experience in casino and/or hotel resort operations.
The candidate should have an advanced understanding of emergency procedures, the ability to work independently, good judgment, and prioritize tasks with little guidance. The role demands working well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, reading blueprints and equipment specs, and ensuring compliance with manufacturer requirements, codes, and environmental standards. Excellent communication skills are essential.
As a casino employee, you must be 19 years or older, pass a criminal record and credit check through GPEB, and have Appropriate Response Training Level 1. The role involves handling confidential information responsibly and working in an environment with flashing lights, loud noises, and dim lighting. Physical capability for heavy manual labor, long standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, twisting, and gripping is required.
