Job Title: General Maintenance Technician

Become an integral part of the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum by joining us as a General Maintenance Technician. In this role, you'll ensure our museum and park remain pristine, safe, and welcoming for visitors. This position is ideal for someone with technical skills, attention to detail, and a dedication to enhancing visitor experience.

Responsibilities:

1. Facility Maintenance: Conduct routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance on buildings, grounds, and exhibits. Ensure systems like plumbing, electrical, and HVAC are functioning correctly to maintain safety and security standards.
2. Groundskeeping: Maintain outdoor areas, manage native landscaping, and ensure stormwater management. Keep exterior areas hazard-free, especially in adverse weather.
3. Exhibit Support: Assist with exhibit setup, maintenance, and cleaning to ensure optimal display functionality.
4. Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain tools, vehicles, and machinery. Coordinate with vendors for specialized repairs.
5. Event Support: Provide logistical assistance for events, including setup and cleanup.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus. A college degree is advantageous.
2. Experience in maintenance roles, preferably in museums, parks, or similar environments.
3. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry; expertise in one area is a plus.
4. Problem-solving skills, physical fitness, and a strong work ethic.
5. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
6. Availability for emergency work, flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
7. Commitment to sustainability practices aligned with the museum’s mission.
8. Valid driver’s license required.

Work Setting:

1. The museum is located in the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum in Mantua Township, NJ. The facility includes offices, conference rooms, a lounge, and outdoor spaces.
2. This is a full-time position with G&A Museum Operation, LLC.
3. Work includes one weekend day and occasional evenings or weekends for events.
4. Frequent outdoor work in all weather conditions.
5. Must be able to lift at least 75 lbs regularly.
