Job Title: General Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Maintenance Lead
Dept/School: Maintenance
Work Year: 250 days
Base Salary: Actual salary will be calculated based on experience.
Primary Purpose
Under general supervision, perform general maintenance and repair of building structures and mechanical needs throughout the district.
Education/Certification
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Texas Driver License and driving record that is insurable with FISD insurance carrier
Special Knowledge/Skills
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
Ability to use hand and power tools
Ability to work independently
Basic computer knowledge
Major Responsibilities And Duties
Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork, painting, replacing plumbing fixtures, and completing other repairs as needed.
Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment.
Complete repairs as requested on work orders or by general maintenance lead.
Hang pictures, mirrors, whiteboards, bulletin boards, projection screens, towel dispensers, soap dispensers, and other items as required.
Install celling and flooring materials.
Operate equipment and use tools following established safety procedures.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
Correct unsafe conditions in the area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.
Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.
Other Duties As Assigned

Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Able to work comfortably at heights above 10 feet using ladders or lifts; carry and work off ladders (6ft and 10ft extension ladder). Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Extensive work with hands above head. Work outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles. Frequent twisting, reaching above shoulder. Frequent lifting and carrying, 15-60 pounds.
Equipment Used
Lift, ladder, trailer, power tools (drill, saw, etc.), hand tools, welder (gas and electric air)
