Job summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking a General Maintenance and Carpentry specialist to support campus facilities, including offices, breakrooms, and public areas. You will handle demolition, rough framing, trim work, and installation of doors, ceilings, flooring and signage.

The role requires experience with brick, block, tile, woodworking tools, painting and shop calculations, plus a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain security clearance. CDL and MS Office skills are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with brick, block, and/or tile based construction and familiarity with tools for smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete. Must know how to use tools to shape or cut materials to specified dimensions.
  • Previous experience with woodworking tools such as saws, routers, drills, and lathes.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the tools and techniques necessary to paint a variety of industrial surfaces.
  • Ability to perform shop computations related to dimensions of work.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Suite.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certifications as required by Company and Law.
  • Must be able to work any shift based upon workload and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement

General Maintenance and Carpentry

Works with wood, drywall, composites and other materials around the campus to perform duties and task ranging from demolition to rough framing to finished carpentry and trim work on buildings, offices, conference rooms, bathrooms, cafes and breakrooms, benches, platforms, and other structures around the campus. Installs, maintains, repairs and/or replaces building components such as ceiling tiles, ceiling grid, bathroom privacy dividers, interior and exterior “man” doors (wood, steel and composite), thresholds, door sweeps, and seals. Installs or replaces campus/building related items such as flooring, raised floors, carpet, white boards, smartboards, televisions, screens, art work, signage, and hanging devices for extinguishers, coats, and miscellaneous wall mounted items. Installs, maintains, repairs and/or replaces interior and exterior signage across the campus including roadway, traffic, parking, building and general signage. Operates and utilizes various tools such as electrical saws, routers, drills, planers, lathes, jointers, molders, boring machines, sanders and impact drivers as necessary to complete the task. Makes shop computations relating to dimensions of work and selects necessary materials. Performs maintenance on tools and equipment related to the trade or department.


Caulking, Sealing and Painting

Applies various caulking, sealing, patches, coats of paint, varnish, stains, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimming, and fixtures of buildings, structures, and equipment of industrial or commercial establishments. Removes old finishes; cleans, sands, putties and patches, and otherwise prepares surfaces for painting; mixes paint and matches colors. Paints surfaces using brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers. May simulate wood grain, brick and tile effect, and create special effects by applying paint with cloth, sponge, brush, or fingers.


Masonry

Repairs a variety of brick, block, concrete, and tile used in the construction of walls, floors, drainage structures, walkways, roadways, and other areas. Performs mixing of components to repair and level areas and ensures proper surface finish. Repairs all types of paving and structural finishes such as cement, plaster and other finishing compositions. Plans and lays out work, preparing work sketches and material lists. Usually works without established procedures, performing a wide variety of nonstandard complex tasks requiring extensive knowledge of discipline.
