Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a General Maintenance Mechanic for the PIPE SHOP. The role performs maintenance on building structures, floors, walls, ceilings, lighting, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related systems, with rotating shifts and on-call as required.

This mission essential position requires a valid VA/NC driver’s license, live within 30 minutes of SNGH, and collaboration with other facility shops. Competitive pay and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of general maintenance experience.
• Commercial maintenance experience preferred.
• Able to assist with Electric/HVAC, Plumbing, etc.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance on building structures and systems including floors, walls, ceilings, lighting, HVAC, transportation systems, mechanical and electrical, plumbing.
• Support other Facility Shops as required; assigned to the PIPE SHOP.

General Maintenance Mechanic PIPE SHOP

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital

Performs general maintenance as directed and as necessary on all aspects of building structure and systems to include floors, walls, ceilings, lighting HVAC, transportation systems, mechanical electrical, plumbing and other items.

This position is Mission Essential personnel at SNGH.

Must live within 30 minutes of SNGH campus.

Must be able to work rotating shift, rotating weekends and be on-call as required.

This position is assigned to the PIPE SHOP

Support other Facility Shops as required

Must have a VA or NC Drivers License

Refrigerant Recovery certification Type I and Type II preferred or Universal preferred

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Trade School

Certification/Licensure

Valid VA or NC Drivers License (In good standing)

Experience

2-3 years of Maintenance experience

Commercial preferred

Ability to assist with other Facility Shops (Electric/HVAC, Plumbing, etc.)

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $25.90 - $40.31 hourly.

Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
