Position Overview:

The Certified Pool Operator/General Maintenance is responsible for the overall general maintenance, replacement and repairs of all facility/property structures and equipment, including grounds keeping, ensuring superior service to all patrons and guests of the Hotel/Casino. Responsibilities also include the overall maintenance and operation of the “Get Wet” pool for a property with high seasonal, weekend and holiday demands. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Mount Airy Casino Resort policies and procedures, Internal Control standards and Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board regulations.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Responsible for the overall skilled general maintenance, replacement and repairs of all facility/property structures and equipment, including grounds keeping.
  • Will assist tradesman as required to perform duties outside the General Maintenance area, i.e., plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting, carpentry, etc.
  • Constructs, repairs, tests, inspects, operates, maintains, and services various machines, mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Responsible for all duties included with maintenance of pool.
  • Responsible for completing regular assigned preventive maintenance jobs.
  • Installs conduits for new wiring.
  • Repairs, inspects, and maintains all ceramic masonry, marble, plaster and concrete areas.
  • Installs, tests, inspects, repairs, and maintains all electrical equipment, fixtures, appliances, light service and power systems.
  • Repairs, inspects and maintains all structures or furniture related to carpentry.
  • Repairs, inspects and maintains all facets of HVAC systems.
  • Maintain the exterior of the property, including grounds.
  • Strict adherence to policies, procedures, standards and safety regulations.
  • Ensures security escort in restricted areas.
  • Maintain new and clean appearance of facility interior and exterior walls, ceilings, furniture and equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of and the ability to read and understand codes.
  • Promotes positive guest, employee and public relations at all times.
  • Responsible for the quality, consistency and presentation of all products and services delivered.
  • Assists in other projects and handles job tasks as deemed appropriate.
  • Attends meetings as necessary.
  • Meets attendance guidelines and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
Essential Requirements:
  • Must be able to perform each of the essential functions and responsibilities satisfactorily.
  • Must be a minimum 18 years of age or older upon employment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One to three years of general maintenance and/or engineering experience required.
  • Possesses excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong interpersonal qualities.
  • Flexible to work any scheduled shifts and/or days, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid Pennsylvania Gaming License, if necessary.
  • Must possess Certified Pool Operator Certification.

  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental state of mind to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and effectively deal with guests, management, employees and members of the business community.
  • Adequate manual dexterity to operate office equipment and engage in lifting up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
Other Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a non-gaming license as required by the PGCB.
  • Must be able to handle exposure to areas where smoking is permitted.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to handle exposure to chemicals.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Must have oral and aural acuity and ability to respond to cues.
