Job summary

Travelers Insurance in Buffalo, NY is seeking a claims professional to manage General Liability claim handling, including investigation, reserving, negotiation, and settlement, in compliance with policies and state regulations.

You will communicate with policyholders, claimants, providers, and internal teams, determine eligibility and coverage, document files, and coordinate with investigators and legal as needed. A bachelor’s degree and 3 years of claims experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Three years of experience in insurance claims, preferably General Liability.
• Experience with claims management and software systems.
• Strong understanding of insurance principles and policies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to handle complex claims and negotiate settlements.
• Exceptional customer service skills and a positive insured/claimant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality claim handling of General Liability claims including customer contacts, coverage, investigation, evaluation, reserving, negotiation, and resolution in accordance with company policies, compliance, and state specific regulations.
• Communicate with policyholders, claimants, providers, and other stakeholders to gather information and provide updates.
• Determine claim eligibility, coverage, liability, and settlement amounts.
• Ensure accurate and complete documentation of claim files and transactions.
• Identify and escape potential fraud or complex claims for further investigation.
• Coordinate with internal teams such as investigators, legal, and customer service, as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
