Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Permanent General Liability Attorney to join our Houston team. You will handle a wide range of general liability matters from discovery to trial and appeal, in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of trial experience, active Texas Bar, and strong research and writing skills with experience in insurance defense, premises and product liability, trucking, toxic tort, and asbestos.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar of Texas.
• Minimum of 5 years as a trial attorney, preferably in general liability.
• Experience with insurance defense, premises liability, product liability, trucking and transportation, toxic tort, and asbestos.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Experience with deposition, motion practice, discovery, and case management.
• Strong trial practice experience, including appeals.
• Knowledge of arbitration and mediation.
• Ability to manage a high caseload and work under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
• High ethical standards and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in all stages of litigation, from filing responsive pleadings to trial and appeal.
• Prepare and argue motions, take and defend depositions, and engage in discovery.
• Handle a caseload of general liability matters including insurance defense and product liability.
• Conduct extensive legal research and analysis to develop case strategies.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Negotiate settlements, mediate disputes, and represent clients in arbitration proceedings.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and support staff for effective case management.
• Maintain compliance with all laws, regulations, and standards, and ethical rules.
