The General Carpenter Laborer assists skilled carpenters and production teams in modular home construction. This role includes handling materials, preparing work areas, assisting with assembly, and performing general labor tasks to support efficient and safe production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist carpenters with cutting, measuring, and assembling structural components
  • Load, unload, and transport lumber, panels, and materials
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Carry, position, and hold materials during installation
  • Operate hand and power tools under supervision
  • Support setup of scaffolding, ladders, and platforms
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE
  • Assist in inspecting materials and completed work for quality and accuracy

Physical Activity & Frequency

  • Standing and walking on production floor or platforms (6-10+ hours/day)
  • Repetitive hand and arm use (moving materials, assisting carpenters)
  • Visual focus for material placement and measurement

Frequent (34-66% of shift)

  • Bending, stooping, and twisting
  • Reaching (including overhead when assisting with framing or roof components)
  • Lifting and carrying materials (20-40 lbs)
  • Climbing ladders, stairs, or platforms

Occasional (1-33% of shift)

  • Kneeling or crouching for floor-level or low wall tasks
  • Extended overhead or awkward-position work
  • Assisting with team lifting of trusses, large panels, or roof sections

Physical Capability Requirements

  • Strength and endurance for repetitive lifting, carrying, and positioning of materials
  • Manual dexterity for handling tools and assisting in assembly
