Job summary

Veterans of Foreign Wars is seeking a maintenance worker at the VFW National Home in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. The role encompasses general upkeep, painting, carpentry, plumbing, and grounds care to support facilities and grounds operations.

Responsibilities include roadway repair, snow removal, tool operation, and ensuring work areas are organized and safe. A high school diploma or GED is required, with a valid MI driver license preferred for vehicle assignments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or demonstrated successful work experience in the duties.
• Regular squatting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds required.
• Follow directions and communicate clearly with supervisor.
• Possess a valid Michigan driver's license if assigned to drive agency vehicles.
• Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with coworkers, supervisors, clients, visitors and staff.

Salary Range: $18.00 - $20.00 Hourly*

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

Perform general maintenance functions required for the upkeep and repair of the grounds, roadways, equipment, furniture, and facilities of the VFW National Home. Involves general maintenance work such as painting, basic woodworking and carpentry, plumbing, home and yard maintenance, roadway repair and maintenance, snow removal, use and maintenance of power tools, organization and cleaning of work areas and moving supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or G.E.D. or demonstrated successful work experience in the characteristic duties.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• *1. Ability to do regular squatting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds required.
