Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supports maintenance technicians by passing tools, holding materials, or completing basic tasks.
• Operates and maintains hand tools, power tools, and light equipment in accordance with SOPs and safety standards.
• Develops and applies basic maintenance knowledge to support facility operations.
• Loads, unloads, and organizes building materials, equipment, supplies, and tools.
• Performs grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, and general landscaping on and off campus with minimal supervision.
• Removes snow and applies salt or ice melt to sidewalks, parking lots, and other designated areas to ensure safe conditions.
• Assists with departmental moves by safely lifting, transporting, and relocating furniture, equipment, and other heavy items.
• Performs general housekeeping and cleanup of work areas during and upon completion of maintenance assignments.
• Operates hospital‑owned vehicles in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.

Job Summary: The General Laborer performs hands‑on manual labor and routine facility maintenance to help ensure Oaklawn and affiliated properties remain safe, clean, and functional. This position supports maintenance technicians by assisting with preventive maintenance, minor repairs, groundskeeping, equipment and furniture moves, and general housekeeping tasks.

Essential Functions:

Working Conditions: May occasionally be exposed to hazardous materials and various degrees of weather.
