Job summary

UFP Industries in Illinois seeks a General Labor worker to safely handle lumber products and verify materials meet customer requirements and company standards. You will move, label, stack, and secure materials, and help with loading and unloading as needed.

No formal experience is required, but a high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role offers hourly pay, eligibility for incentive pay, and benefits including medical and savings plans, as well as paid vacation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED preferred but not required.
  • Manufacturing or lumber experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Moves and secures lumber products and other materials according to instructions.
  • Stacks finished products according to predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirements.
  • Labels material based on type, size, and count.
  • Applies tags to material before/after treating/production.
  • Uses a staple gun and troubleshoots equipment.
  • Binds, bundles and secures material and loads as needed.
  • Ensures correct quantities and material are strapped and labeled before leaving the work area.
  • Maintains inventory of tags and reports discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Records production on production sheets.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Assists with other work areas by moving material and loading/unloading carts.
  • Participates in safety, continuous improvement and other programs.

Job Summary

General labor is responsible for safely handling lumber products. Verifies material meets customer requirements and company expectations.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities
  • Moves and secures lumber products and other materials according to instructions
  • Stacks finished products according to predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirements
  • Labels material based on the following specifications: type, size, and count
  • Applies individual tags to material before/after treating/production
  • Uses a staple gun and troubleshoots equipment
  • Bands, bundles and secures material, including attaching corner protectors and loading sticks
  • Follows instructions for stacking material properly and according to company policy and customer requirements
  • Ensures correct quantities and material are strapped, and labeled before leaving the work area
  • Maintains accurate inventory of tags and reports any problems or discrepancies to supervisor
  • Records production on production sheets
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Assists with other work areas by moving material, loading and unloading material carts
  • Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings
  • Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED preferred but not required
  • No minimum experience is required, but manufacturing or lumber experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic math preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
Hourly Pay

$17.00 dependent on experience*

  • pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living
Incentive pay

may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives and weekly production bonuses, A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
