Job summary

The General Services Administration in the United States seeks a General Attorney to serve as an Attorney-Advisor in the Office of the General Counsel. The position is located in the Personal Property Division (LP), handling acquisition policy, property management, and related contract work.

You must have a J.D. degree, be an active member of the Bar, and possess at least two years of professional legal experience after admission.

Qualifications

• To qualify, you must possess all of the following: a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association; active bar membership in good standing; at least two years of professional legal experience after being admitted to the bar.
• Resume must clearly demonstrate how you meet specialized experience; resume should not exceed two pages and must include contact information, job title/GS grade, dates, hours, and descriptions.
• If selected, official law school transcripts will be required; a financial disclosure and background investigations are also required.
• This GS-13 position salary range starts at $108,173; locality pay is determined upon selection.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on Federal Government contracts, including transactional matters, contract claims and disputes, and acquisition policy, IT and professional services.
• Advise on contract formation, administration, and termination; perform legal research and prepare opinions on complex issues.
• Provide legal advice on non-acquisition GSA programs including travel, fleet management, small business matters, emergency management, and disposal; cover policy-related matters.
• Advise GSA officials on laws, regulations, proposed legislation, and significant nationwide issues with potential large sums of money.
• Review regulations, policies, and agency issuances; comment on rulemaking actions affecting the Federal Acquisition Service.
• Represent the agency before GAO or Agency Protest Official for protests; prepare agency positions in CBCA appeals.
• Provide litigation support to DoJ in Federal court matters, such as protests before the Court of Federal Claims.

Education

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from ABA-accredited law school

Active bar membership in good standing (any U.S. state/territory/DC/PR)

Two years of professional legal experience after bar admission
