Job summary

Progressive is seeking a General Accountant to join our Texas accounting team. Under supervision, you will handle full-cycle AP and AR, support GL maintenance, bank reconciliations, and month-end close with meticulous accuracy.

You will process invoices, prepare payments, manage vendor data, assist with PO workflows, 1099 reporting, and client invoicing. Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (Oracle ERP preferred) and strong communication are essential to succeed in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Hands-on AP/AR processing including invoice processing, three-way matching, billing, and collections.
• Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong data entry skills.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new accounting and ERP systems.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Experience in construction, energy, infrastructure, or renewable energy industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices for payment, including coding and three-way matching.
• Prepare weekly payment batches for review and approval.
• Process employee expense reports and corporate credit card statements.
• Assist project and operations teams with purchase order creation, coding, and follow-up on outstanding purchase orders and uninvoiced receipts.
• Maintain vendor master data and collect vendor tax documentation.
• Assist with Form 1099 reporting and other government reporting requirements as needed.
• Prepare and issue monthly customer invoices and review for accuracy before submission.
• Record banking transactions and maintain bank reconciliations.
• Prepare recurring, accrual, and other journal entries.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities.
• Maintain organized monthly workpapers and supporting documentation.
• Assist with month-end close activities and ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
• Support audit and tax requests by providing required documentation and schedules.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
