Job summary

Synchrony seeks an experienced Risk Manager for AI, GenAI, and Agentic AI to identify, assess, and monitor risks across AI lifecycle. You will partner with AI Solutions to embed governance, controls, and assurance, reporting to the VP, IT Oversight.

Responsibilities include risk assessments, guardrails design, third-party due diligence, incident response, and KRIs/KPIs tracking. Travel may be required as part of risk oversight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years in technology risk, model risk or related fields.
• 1+ years supporting AI/ML or data-driven systems in a regulated bank.
• Knowledge of AI risk concepts and failure modes.
• Experience creating risk assessments and controls.
• Ability to travel for business.

Responsibilities

• Review AI risk management practices across AI/GenAI/Agentic AI solutions and align with risk appetite.
• Perform AI risk assessments documenting inherent/residual risk and remediation plans.
• Suggest guardrails for prompt safety, data hygiene and verification.
• Establish policies and controls for tool access, least privilege and approvals.
• Partner with Model Validation/Analytics to define validation expectations.
• Coordinate with Security and Privacy on data classification and encryption.
• Maintain policy alignment with standards and AI policies.
• Conduct due diligence on AI vendors and data usage terms.
• Oversee incident response and issue management.
• Define and track AI risk KRIs/KPIs and report to governance forums.
• Deliver risk guidance to product and engineering teams.
• Audit readiness and evidence collection/controls.
• Attend Technology Strategy sessions like Responsible AI Working Group.
• Manage risks in eGRC and related governance tools.
• Support ERA and RCSA processes.
