Job summary

Morgan Stanley's Parametric GenAI platform team seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead AI engineering efforts and build robust GenAI solutions. You will translate business problems into scalable technical designs, mentor engineers, and drive platform governance across multiple business units.

The role emphasizes deep ML/NLP expertise, cloud deployments on AWS, and ongoing collaboration with stakeholders to deliver production-ready GenAI capabilities that solve real client needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of hands-on object-oriented design and development.
• 3+ years of Python software design and development.
• 3+ years leading software development teams and mentoring engineers.
• Strong communication, translating business needs into technical requirements.
• Experience across AI lifecycle: framing, data assessment, evaluation, deployment.
• Proficiency with LLM APIs and frameworks (OpenAI, Azure, HuggingFace).
• Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face Transformers.
• Experience building cloud-based solutions on AWS and REST APIs.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers to achieve goals.
• Lead GenAI projects from requirements to deployment and support.
• Design and maintain platform-level GenAI solutions and governance.
• Collaborate with business users and engineers to scope solutions.
• Review code and ensure adherence to engineering standards.
