Job summary

Morgan Stanley’s Parametric GenAI Platform team seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead AI engineering. You will guide the GenAI platform, apply ML/NLP knowledge, and design scalable AI solutions across business units.

This role requires strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and hands-on work with OpenAI/Azure OpenAI, LangChain, and AWS. You will drive robust, compliant GenAI capabilities in a collaborative, high-impact environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on object-oriented design and development.
• 3+ years of Python software design and development.
• 3+ years of experience managing software development teams.
• Strong communication to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience translating business problems into feasible AI solutions.
• Proficiency with AI lifecycles: framing, evaluation, deployment.
• Experience with AI APIs and frameworks (OpenAI, LangChain, etc.).
• Proficiency with AWS cloud deployments and REST API design.
• Experience with microservices, Docker, and CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with RAG architectures and vector databases.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership by managing a team of engineers.
• Drive vision and strategy for GenAI platform and standards.
• Lead GenAI development projects across the full lifecycle.
• Collaborate with business users to define requirements and trade-offs.
• Design and maintain platform-level GenAI solutions and APIs.
• Translate business problems into data-backed AI solutions.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and performance metrics for GenAI.
• Oversee cloud deployments, monitoring, and reliability.
