Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking an AI Engineer specializing in Generative AI and product engineering to design, build, and deploy enterprise-grade AI solutions. You will work across the full product lifecycle, from architecture and prototyping to API development and production support.

The role emphasizes LangChain/LangSmith, RAG, Azure OpenAI integration, and scalable Python/FastAPI services deployed on AKS, with a strong focus on security, reliability, and measurable value.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building enterprise GenAI/RAG products.
• Experience with LangGraph-based agentic workflows.
• Experience deploying Python/FastAPI applications on AKS.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/pgvector at production scale.
• Understanding of LLM hallucination, grounding, and evaluation.
• Familiarity with Azure identity, secrets management, monitoring, and enterprise security patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop enterprise Generative AI and agentic AI apps.
• Build multi-step stateful AI workflows with retrieval and human-in-the-loop.
• Integrate with Azure OpenAI and other LLM services.
• Develop APIs and backend services with Python/FastAPI.
• Establish AI evaluation and observability mechanisms.
• Collaborate with product owners and engineering teams.
