Job summary

Nelnet is hiring a Data Pipeline Engineer to design, build, and maintain data pipelines using BigQuery and Dataflow for GenAI use cases in a hybrid remote environment.

You will classify data with Dataplex and DLP, enforce governance policies, and ensure data readiness for AI usage while collaborating with GCP/Gemini and AgentOps teams to deliver reliable data assets. A bachelor’s degree and hands-on cloud data experience are required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building data pipelines and ELT/ETL for analytics or GenAI on a major cloud data platform.
• Experience with data governance and classification tooling (Dataplex, Cloud DLP) on Google Cloud.
• Strong SQL and Python for pipeline development and data transformation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using BigQuery and Dataflow or Airflow to ingest and transform client data for GenAI use cases.
• Develop ELT/ETL processes for batch ingestion into analytics and RAG data stores.
• Monitor pipeline reliability, performance, and cost; optimize BigQuery usage and Dataflow jobs.
