Job summary

Applegate in Alma, KS is hiring a General Production Laborer for 1st shift (6:00 AM–2:30 PM; extended hours and weekends may be required). The role supports daily production in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, focusing on quality, safety, and clean, efficient operations.

Ideal candidates are reliable, team-oriented, and able to follow GMPs and safety procedures. On-the-job training is provided, with benefits and opportunities to grow within Hormel Foods’ family of brands.

Qualifications

• Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions throughout a shift.
• Lift/push/pull 50+ lbs as required.
• Stand, walk, bend, lift for extended periods.
• Kneel/squat as necessary to complete tasks.
• Grasping & pinching motions to complete tasks.
• Follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Assist with production line activities, including loading, sorting, and packaging products.
• Operate basic manufacturing equipment and tools as trained.
• Monitor product quality and report defects or concerns.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area per GMPs and OSHA standards.
• Follow GMPs and plant safety procedures.
• Support sanitation tasks such as cleaning equipment, floors, and workstations.
• Perform routine material handling, including lifting, moving, and stacking products or supplies.
• Work cooperatively with team members and supervisors to meet production targets.
• Complete any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor to maintain efficient operations.

The General Laborer supports daily production operations at Alma Foods by performing a variety of manual tasks in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining product quality, ensuring safe work practices, and keeping production areas clean, organized, and running efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with production line activities, including loading, sorting, and packaging products.

• Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with food safety and OSHA standards.
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety procedures, and plant policies.
• Support sanitation tasks such as cleaning equipment, floors, and workstations as needed.
• Perform routine material handling, including lifting, moving, and stacking products or supplies.
• Work cooperatively with team members and supervisors to meet production targets.
• Complete any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor to maintain efficient plant operations.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $21.15 per hour, 1.5 times rate for hours worked over 40 in a week
