Job summary

Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbus, GA seeks a GED Teacher to deliver adult education as part of the Muscogee ETC program. You will integrate GED skills with reading, math, social justice, and science while guiding students toward GED readiness.

The role emphasizes individualized planning, progress assessment, and collaboration with school and agency staff to support student success and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perceive the needs of the Adult Education (GED) program.
• Knowledge of school district policies and practices.
• Must be organized and responsible for completing daily work duties and assignments.
• Demonstrated ability to implement the district’s strategic plan.
• Ability to relate to a wide variety of people and to observe.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the creation of all reports, records, and other paperwork as assigned by the district, the Agency, the Georgia Department of Education, and the Federal Government.
• Keeps the supervisor informed and works cooperatively with all other staff in school, District, and Agency-related matters.
• Maintains a positive, collaborative, and mutually supportive working relationship with community agencies, parents, students, and Agency, District, and school staff.
• Instructs students on material needed to earn their GED.
• Teaches basic and advanced skills encompassing Mathematical Reasoning, Science, Social Studies, and Reasoning Through Language Arts.
