Job summary

The District of Columbia Government, through the D.C. Department of Corrections, Central Detention Facility, seeks a GED educator to run an adult basic education program for inmates preparing for the GED exam. You will assist with lesson plans, curriculum and materials, and help assess progress and outcomes.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's with supervised student teaching and a teaching license. Certification or licensure in DC or a U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with supervised student teaching and education coursework.
• Teacher certification or licensure in DC or a U.S. territory.
• Experience or coursework in psychology, human development, or education philosophy is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans and select instructional texts and visuals for GED classes.
• Administer and grade GED-related exams and provide regular assessments.
• Assist with interviews, placement, and evaluation of inmates in the GED program.
