Job summary

Syntiro in Augusta, ME, seeks multiple GEAR UP School Specialists to support students across Somerset, Piscataquis, Northern Penobscot, Aroostook, and Washington counties. You will implement career- and college-readiness lessons, promote a college-going culture, and guide students from 8th grade through the first year of postsecondary education.

This full-time, grant-funded role requires reliable transportation for statewide travel and may involve remote work, evenings, or weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required.
  • Masters preferred.
  • Experience communicating with students and families.
  • Experience with first-generation and underserved populations is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient use of Google Drive and related apps.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver career- and college-readiness lessons and activities.
  • Promote a college-going culture and support 8th–12th grade students and first-year postsecondary students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and higher-ed partners across counties and travel statewide.
  • Flexibility to work remote at times and accommodate nights or weekends as needed.
