American Axle & Manufacturing is seeking a Gears Manufacturing Engineer in Michigan to drive gear development, establish process capabilities, and lead equipment and tooling decisions for high-throughput production lines.

You will collaborate with design and application teams, oversee PPAPs, and guide automation adoption to improve efficiency. Strong leadership, problem solving and project management are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• A degree in Engineering or related field or 3-5 years of experience.
• Knowledge of Gear Manufacturing – Hypoid or Helical.
• Knowledge of CNC machining processes - milling, turning, grinding, honing, deburring.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling software.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations.
• Knowledge of gear manufacturing.

Responsabilités

• Work with design and application group to specify gear development requirements, quality, performance, and scheduling.
• Participate in Design/Program Reviews and communicate project status and issues.
• Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes in the GDC.
• Recommend improvements to product quality during process development.
• Lead team in evaluating new equipment, processes, and software.
• Participate in product design/development review meetings.
• Lead cost reduction and throughput improvements in gear cutting/finishing.
• Interact with engineering and production to solve process/tooling issues and develop new parts and processes.
