American Axle & Manufacturing Inc is seeking a Gears Manufacturing Engineer to drive gear development, optimize machining processes, and select tooling and equipment to maximize throughput.

You will collaborate with design teams, lead improvement projects, and ensure manufacturability and PPAP readiness across domestic operations. The role requires strong leadership, knowledge of gear manufacturing, CNC processes, and the ability to resolve production issues quickly.

Qualifikationen

• Degree or 3-5 years related experience in engineering.
• Knowledge of Gear Manufacturing - Hypoid or Helical.
• Knowledge of CNC machining processes - milling, turning, grinding, honing, deburring.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling software.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations.
• Knowledge of gear manufacturing.
• Excellent project management skills.

Aufgaben

• Work closely with the design and application group to specify gear development requirements, quality levels, performance levels and program scheduling.
• Participate in Design/Program Reviews and oversee communication of project status and issues with the department manager and team members to resolve issues.
• Expert in evaluating and improving processes in manufacturing systems.
• Make recommendations to improve product quality and processing during program process development stage.
• Lead team in evaluating and recommending new equipment, processes, and software.
• Participate in product design/development review meetings.
• Lead cost reduction and throughput improvement in gear cutting and finishing processes.
• Engage with engineering staff to design and develop gear machining processes.
• Investigate scrap and rework resulting from gear machining processes.
• Interact with production facility associates to solve process and tooling related problems and to develop new parts and processes.
• Manage engineering changes as they occur.
• Interact with customers and suppliers to resolve potential issues.
• Participate and assist with PPAPs and new product launches at domestic and international facilities.
• Investigate and implement cost reduction efforts through productivity improvement programs.
• Troubleshoot daily production problems through root cause analysis techniques.
