Job summary

WM is seeking a Gas Operations Technician I to operate and maintain landfill gas collection systems (GCCS) at our Michigan sites. You will monitor data, manage field equipment, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations under supervision.

You will gain hands-on experience with PVC/HDPE piping, pumps, and sensors, participate in preventative maintenance, and support safety initiatives. A valid driver’s license is required; training is provided and on‑the‑job learning is expected.

Qualifications

• Valid and unrestricted driver's license is required.
• Experience in environmental fieldwork or hands‑on work environments is preferred.
• Fundamental ability to interpret data and operate basic field equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain GCCS to ensure regulatory compliance and performance.
• Calibrate and monitor data collection devices for LFG collection.
• Collect data from wellfield locations and manage monitoring data.
• Implement the preventative maintenance plan for GCCS.
• Assist with liquid management pumps and piping maintenance.
• Adjust valves and data collection to optimize system performance.
• Follow health and safety procedures and be available for on‑call responses.
