Job summary

WM is seeking a Landfill Gas Technician I to operate and maintain GCCS, including wells, piping, pumps, and flare systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and safe, cost‑effective performance.

You will work in field environments, collect data, perform preventative maintenance, and be on‑call for GCCS related malfunctions; completion of WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training is required.

Qualifications

• Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
• Experience in fieldwork or hands‑on environments preferred.
• Knowledge of gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, or flare systems.
• Technical or trade school training in environmental science, mechanical systems, instrumentation, or related field.
• Experience with PVC/HDPE piping and data logging systems.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting pumps, motors, or pneumatic equipment.
• Fundamental knowledge of computer data entry and interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain GCCS to meet regulatory compliance and optimize performance.
• Calibrate, operate and maintain data collection devices for LFG collection.
• Collect and manage data from wellfield extraction and monitoring locations.
• Implement the GCCS preventive maintenance plan.
• Operate and maintain pumps and liquid management systems; troubleshoot liquid levels.
• Adjust valves, collect data, and interpret results in the field.
• Use PVC or HDPE piping materials and related equipment for maintenance.
• Complete WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training.
• Develop understanding of environmental regulations related to GCCS operations.
• Follow health and safety requirements and procedures.
• Available for on-call response to GCCS malfunctions.
