Job summary

Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA is seeking a compassionate RN to join our Gastroenterology Physician Practice as a Triage Nurse. This full-time daytime role focuses on guiding patients through their care journey, answering calls, and coordinating pre-procedure steps.

You will liaise with patients, providers, and the care team, using evidence-based protocols to assess symptoms and determine appropriate care, while maintaining HIPAA standards and delivering excellent patient education.

Qualifications

• BSN or equivalent nursing experience is required.
• Current MA RN license is required.
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills are essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent patient needs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key clinical liaison between patients, physicians, and care teams.
• Respond to incoming patient calls and clinical inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
• Perform telephone triage, assessing symptoms and determining appropriate care levels.
• Provide evidence-based guidance using established clinical protocols.
• Conduct pre-procedure calls and ensure patients are prepared and informed.
• Educate patients and families on managing health conditions at home.
• Support care coordination and communication across the Gastroenterology team.
• Adapt to changing schedules and patient needs in a fast-paced clinical environment.
