Job summary

Harris Health System is seeking a Gastroenterology Technician I to support the GI Lab team by preparing supplies, equipment, and room for procedures. You will handle specimens and ensure proper cleaning and disinfection of scopes and other equipment to meet standards.

The GT I will assist nursing and medical staff, troubleshoot equipment as needed, and demonstrate professional effectiveness in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of patient care experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification required or as per unit/service requirements.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Gastroenterology Technician I (GT I) perform a variety of activities that support the nursing and medical staff of the GI Lab, which includes preparing supplies, equipment, and room for procedures; handling of specimen and cleaning/disinfecting scopes and other equipment according to standards; and troubleshooting equipment appropriately. The GT I demonstrate personal and professional effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Certifications:
a) Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross.
b) Certificate: Other certificates as required by unit/service.

Work Experience: One (1) year of patient care experience.
