Job summary

Atlantic Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant I for the Gastroenterology department in Summit, NJ. This full-time daytime role supports patient intake, vital signs, and clinical documentation under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• National Certification CCMA from NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT is required.
• Preferred: Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field; 1 year of health care experience.

Responsibilities

• Handle patient intake, update medical records, and administer appropriate screening tools.
• Record medical information and test results, conduct patient interviews, take and record vital signs, collect specimens, and administer medications under physician supervision.
• Assist with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, verify and record clinical data and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Monitor environment for accreditation readiness and evaluate practice schedule for changes or updates.
• Demonstrate knowledge of CMA scope of practice and provide holistic, patient-centered and team-based care.
• Guide patients through the health care system and assist with timely arrivals to appointments.
• Provide emotional support related to the patient’s clinical situation per the care plan.
• Assist with referrals to appropriate specialists for diagnosis or treatment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
