Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking an Applications Engineer (AE) for Modernizations and Upgrades to develop technical solutions for package and controls upgrades for the Aeroderivative Gas Turbine fleet. The AE will validate requirements, identify risks, prepare budgets, and seek technical approvals while interfacing with Customers, Sales, APMs, and Project teams.

You’ll travel to customer sites for surveys and meetings, contributing to bid quality and handover to execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Field or Engineering Technology (or equivalent experience). 5+ years’ applicable experience with Controls or Mechanical Engineering in oil/gas or power generation.
• Experience in interpretation and writing of engineering/equipment specifications.
• Ability to communicate complex engineering concepts to diverse parties with varying technical backgrounds.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience in aeroderivative gas turbines is highly desired. Certifications such as BOSIET/CA-EBS/MIST/H2S are a plus. Experience with Power BI is a plus.
• Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Define the overall technical scope for upgrades (Engine, Package Mechanical, Package Electrical, Controls) for proposals.
• Develop the cost budget for identified technical scope; obtain major vendor quotes as needed.
• Identify, quantify, and mitigate technical risks during the bid phase for successful execution.
• Provide technical comments and exceptions to customer specifications; support clarifications meetings; handover won proposals to execution.
• Travel to customer sites for site surveys, assessments, and customer meetings; possibly participate in safety discussions.
• Drive improvement initiatives within the team.
