Job summary

Dow Chemical in Lake Jackson, TX, seeks a Research Scientist to lead gas treating and carbon capture focused innovation within the Industrial Solutions Energy Platform. You will engage with engineers and scientists, perform process modeling and technoeconomic analysis, and contribute to business development and IP generation.

The role offers opportunities for customer engagement, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration across global regions. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Chemistry, Process Engineering, Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering or similar field required. PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical process modeling for gas treating plants using alkanolamines and glycols.
• Develop expertise in gas treating process simulation with ProComp and commercial simulators.
• Perform technoeconomic analysis including capital and operating cost estimation.
• Create process design packages using established engineering practices and process simulation.
• Interface with stakeholders across R&D, Technical Sales, Commercial and Marketing.
• Collaborate with lab teams to develop physical, chemical, and thermophysical properties; support pilot plants.
• Monitor market trends related to Dow IP and integrate into projects.
• Support ideation and pipeline filling for a global R&D project portfolio; contribute to IP.
