Job summary

NorthWestern Energy is hiring a Gas Transmission Corrosion Technician to perform corrosion control tasks on the gas transmission and storage system with emphasis on monitoring, inspection and remediation. The role requires travel up to 50% annually and the ability to complete cathodic surveys and various field tests.

Candidate will build and maintain cathodic bonds, rectifiers, and ground beds while ensuring data integrity in the PCS database and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of corrosion fundamentals and ability to inspect, monitor and remediate corrosion on gas transmission pipelines.
• Proficiency with cathodic assessment surveys and related techniques.
• Familiarity with ILI assessments and field verification of anomalies.
• Willingness to obtain AMPP/NACE certifications within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform 49 CFR 192 compliance tasks focused on corrosion control.
• Inspect, monitor and remediate atmospheric, external, and internal corrosion on the gas system.
• Preform cathodic surveys (pipe-to-soil, CIS, ACVG/DCVG, coating conductance, etc.).
• Maintain and operate cathodic bonds, electrical isolation, and related components.
• Build, inspect, install, and maintain rectifiers and ground beds; monitor remote stations.
• Collect, retain, analyze and maintain data in PCS database; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Travel up to 50% per year to various gas system locations; some training travel outside primary location.
