Job summary

Talisman in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Gas Trader to own a growing wholesale gas portfolio on the US desk. You will trade natural gas on daily, monthly and term horizons, including transport and storage, and work closely with originators, risk and supply teams.

The role requires 5+ years of progressive natural gas trading experience, strong fundamentals, P&L expertise, and the ability to price structured contracts and navigate deregulated electricity markets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of natural gas trading experience including term physical and financial positions tied to transportation and storage
• Strong gas fundamentals and market pricing expertise with P&L experience
• Experience pricing structured, non-standard contracts and managing long-term contracts
• Experience in deregulated electricity markets

Responsibilities

• Trade natural gas on daily, monthly and term basis including transport and storage to capture spreads
• Identify opportunities from books and market movements and quote prices daily
• Develop views along the curve and manage transport/storage hedges within risk appetite
• Optimize portfolio value across short to long-term markets and develop trade recommendations
• Collaborate with originators and risk/supply teams on deals and cross-commodity opportunities

Job description

Our client, a leading global energy company, is hiring a Senior Gas Trader for the wholesale desk of its US business, based in Houston, TX (in office).

What You’ll Do

• Trade natural gas on a daily, monthly and term basis, including financial basis, transport and storage, to capture locational and time spreads
• Identify opportunities from the books, sales-trading flow and market movements, and quote competitive prices to sales-trading daily
• Develop quantitative and fundamental views along the entire curve, and use them to manage transport and storage hedges within risk appetite
• Optimize the value of the US portfolio across short, mid and long-term markets and develop trade recommendations
• Work with originators on deal origination, structuring and pricing, and with the supply team on cross-commodity opportunities and risks

• 5+ years of progressively responsible natural gas trading experience, including term physical and financial positions tied to transportation and storage
• Strong gas fundamentals, risk management and market pricing expertise, with solid P&L experience
