Job summary

Selby Jennings seeks a Senior Natural Gas Originator to grow and optimize its wholesale natural gas portfolio across Texas and the Western U.S. This role will originate and execute physical and financial gas transactions, building relationships with producers, utilities, pipelines, and end users.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in natural gas origination or related energy markets, with deep knowledge of Texas/West pipeline systems and North American gas markets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in natural gas origination, marketing, trading, commercial development, or related energy markets.
• Deep knowledge of both intrastate and interstate Texas and West pipeline systems.
• Strong understanding of North American natural gas markets and market structure.
• Demonstrated experience originating and negotiating gas supply, transportation, storage, or structured commodity transactions.
• Established relationships across producers, utilities, pipelines, storage operators, marketers, or large end users.

Responsibilities

• Originate and execute physical and financial natural gas transactions across key North American markets
• Develop and maintain relationships with producers, utilities, power generators, pipelines, storage operators, marketers, and other counterparties
• Identify opportunities involving gas supply, transportation, storage, and structured transactions
• Support trading teams through transportation and storage strategies that optimize asset value and market exposure
• Negotiate commercial agreements and manage transactions from origination through execution
• Analyze regional supply and demand fundamentals, pipeline flows, basis markets, and infrastructure developments
• Partner with traders, risk, legal, contracts, and operations teams to ensure deal profitability and successful execution
• Contribute to the continued expansion of the company's commercial footprint across Texas and the Western U.S.
• Travel as needed for customer meetings, conferences, and business development initiatives

We are working with a leading North American energy company seeking an experienced Senior Natural Gas Originator to help grow and optimize its wholesale natural gas portfolio across Texas and the Western U.S. This position will be focused on developing and executing commercial opportunities with producers, pipelines, storage operators, power generators, utilities, marketers, and other wholesale market participants.
