Job summary

City of Clearwater is seeking a Gas System Specialist (Construction) to maintain and monitor the City’s gas systems. You’ll inspect gas systems, identify leaks, and ensure compliance with PHMSA and FPSC rules while coordinating with contractors and field teams.

The role requires knowledge of gas distribution, CNG stations, SCADA basics, and effective field leadership. A valid driver’s license and a CDL within a year are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus three years in gas distribution or equivalent.
• Experience in construction inspection is preferred.
• Valid State driver’s license; CDL Class A or B within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Inspect gas systems, inspect for leaks, and repair issues.
• Size gas lines and select materials per codes.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair gas distribution equipment and systems.
• Respond to gas emergencies and participate in standby rotations.
• Provide training and guidance to other gas employees and ensure safety compliance.
