Job summary

The City of Alexandria seeks a Gas System Technician to install, inspect, maintain, test, and repair assorted natural gas equipment and to monitor gas pressure and volume in the system. The role involves 40 hours per week and is subject to 24-hour call.

Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or GED with 3 years of related experience, plus a valid driver’s license and required certifications within six months of hire. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, retirement, and more.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with 3 years of related experience in testing, maintenance and repair of regulators, reliefs, control valves, meters and SCADA equipment.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, tests, repairs, adjusts, and inspects regulators, reliefs, control valves, meters, and stations; inspects contractors' work.
• Reads and interprets charts and reports; computes bills.
• Prepares paperwork and reports per department policies.
• Receives calls and prepares work orders.
• Coordinates field work or troubleshooting with SCADA System Operators on SCADA.
