Job summary

Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC is hiring a Service Technician to install, maintain, and repair natural gas facilities on transmission and distribution systems. You will read meters, install meters, program ERTs, and perform tests and turn-ons, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED, experience with construction tools and Windows PCs, a valid driver’s license and CDL medical card within 6 months, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather,

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Experience using construction tools.
• Experience applying basic mechanical concepts and mechanical aptitude.
• Experience utilizing Windows PCs in a Windows environment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and CDL medical card within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Interact professionally with customers on-site and promote good relations.
• Read meters and install/repair residential and commercial meters.
• Install, program encoder receiver transmitters (ERTs).
• Identify and deliver materials for work; inspect for corrosion.
• Respond to emergencies as a first responder and document investigations.
