Job summary

John Crane, a business of Smiths Group, is seeking a Gas Seals Reliability Engineer located at our Morton Grove headquarters. The role involves supporting external customers on technical aspects from design to testing, with standard office hours Monday–Friday.

You will work with sales, operations, and development engineering to provide analyses, sketches and CAD concepts while maintaining professional communication and delivering results on time.

Qualifications

• Experience in a mechanical engineering role.
• Ability to read P&ID, General Arrangement and detail drawings.
• Experience with rotating equipment and forensic analysis is advantageous.
• Oil & gas industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate in-house test failures and analyze dry gas seal designs.
• Perform calculations and interpretations for complex factors.
• Prepare technical presentations for customers and internal teams.
• Support commercial teams in technical meetings and build relationships.
