Job summary

John Crane, a business of Smiths Group, is seeking an entry-level Customer Reliability Engineer or Technical Specialist. The role starts with hands-on training and placements at customer facilities in the United States, coordinating with local teams to ensure compliance with partnership agreements and addressing product performance inquiries.

You will gain exposure to mechanical seals, rotating equipment, and reliability analyses while developing practical engineering and customer-facing skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred; High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with mechanical seals, rotating equipment, and basic engineering principles.
• Strong knowledge of personal computers, MS Office, and machining practices.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a demanding environment and completing tasks on time.
• Effective written and verbal business communication skills; teamwork and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assists operations with tear-down, inspection, and assembly of mechanical seals as part of training rotation.
• Performs failure analysis on mechanical seals and inputs findings into reliability software.
• Reviews customer applications and makes recommendations.
• Troubleshoots applications and analyzes, evaluates, and rectifies seal operation problems and failures.
• Communicates with company personnel, providing feedback, recommendations, and technical assistance.
