Job summary

Airgas in Kingsport, TN is seeking a Plant Operator to examine, test, fill, and weigh compressed and liquefied gas cylinders in accordance with company policies and safety regulations.

You will operate production equipment, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safe handling of cylinders while maintaining accurate records. A forklift may be used to move materials, with emphasis on safety and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in industrial operations is a plus.
• Previous experience in plant operations, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
• Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
• Flexibility to work shifts and overtime as needed.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment within our production facility, including compressors, pumps, filling stations, and forklifts, to ensure a steady supply of industrial gases.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in optimal condition, identifying and addressing any issues promptly.
• Safely handle and transport cylinders, including filling and quality checks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
• Operate a forklift to move materials and products within the facility safely.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, cylinder tracking, and production activities.
• Collaborate with the team to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure work environment.
• Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills.
