Job summary

The Berkshire Gas Company, an Avangrid Company, seeks a Gas Technical Trainer in Adams, MA to develop, deliver, and administer technical training for Gas Operations personnel. The role creates curriculum, manages scheduling and LMS documentation, and ensures training effectiveness and regulatory compliance.

The position requires strong communication skills, knowledge of PHMSA and state regulations, and collaboration with multiple teams to meet operational needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years in natural gas industry or related technical field.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, instructional design, or related area.
• Technical knowledge of natural gas properties, pipeline construction and maintenance, gas safety regulations.
• Knowledge of 49 CFR Parts 191, 192, and 193.
• MA 220 CMR.
• Operator Qualification programs and Written Plans.
• Ability to design and conduct effective training programs including instructional design and learning environments.
• Ability to obtain Operator Qualification tasks.
• 2+ years of demonstrated prior training experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver technical training for natural gas distribution and transmission systems.
• Create and maintain training materials such as lesson plans, presentations, assessments, and simulations.
• Deliver classroom, field-based, virtual, and blended learning programs for employees and contractors.
• Assess the effectiveness of training programs and implement improvements.
• Manage training resources and keep materials up-to-date.
• Monitor adherence to procedures and safety requirements with post-training evaluations.
• Stay current on industry codes, standards, and regulatory changes.
• Participate in incident reviews and root cause analyses to identify training opportunities.
• Collaborate with Gas Operations, Engineering, Safety, and management teams on training initiatives.
